At a stone’s throw of the city center of Chartres
Looking for a breath of fresh air ? The Plan Vert (green path) is a set of pedestrian paths laid out along the Eure and accessible from the enclosure of the Chartres campsite. The objective of this walk ? Allow you to discover beautiful landscapes and take a breath of fresh air, close to the city. Throughout your walk in Chartres, information panels will guide you and give you information on the areas crossed.
Discovering the surroundings
There are slightly more outlying routes such as the Berchéroise, a walk of around 13 km which takes you from Chartres Cathedral to the Berchères-les-Pierres quarry, where the stones that were partly used to build the cathedral come from. Walk in the footsteps of the quarry workers and enjoy magnificent views of the cathedral…
The hiking trails passing through Chartres
Chartres is also a destination where many hiking trails stop. Santiago de Compostela with its GR655 route, Chartres to Mont Saint-Michel with the GR22, the Chemin Charles Péguy joining Chartres and the Paris region… Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy discovering Chartres during their visit to our destination.

In Chartres and its surroundings
Chartres promotes quiet roaming and in particular the development of cycle paths. You can thus easily reach the “green” zones and access the city center with just a few pedal strokes! Leave the campsite by joining the Plan Vert (green path) and opt for a refreshing stroll along the Eure. You can get away from the city center of Chartres at your leisure by taking various circuits, such as the “nature in the city” which offers a 17 km loop and which passes through towns neighboring Chartres.
On the road of La Véloscénie
Chartres is not only a city crossed by hiking routes but it is also crossed by national cycling routes such as La Véloscénie. A trip linking Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral to Mont Saint-Michel, passing through the Castle of Maintenon and the Chartres cathedral.
Leave the Camping de Chartres with your electric bikes and reach Maintenon a few kilometers further ! You will discover the castle of Maintenon there: its history and its gardens… Not to mention its aqueduct which gives an undeniable charm to the place. A must see if you are passing through for a few days !
